Project Description Summary

Having been embanked in the early 1970s, this polder breached during a storm in December 1999.

An emergency embankment was built inland to protect the local village, leaving a 190 hectares section of the polder open to inundation.

In 2000, the Conservatoire du Littoral purchased the site.
