Project Description Summary

This involved the installation of one US-designed self-regulating tide gate with a 1 m diameter pipe set at an invert level of 0 mOD (i.e. at the Mean High Water Neap Level). It was configured to allow for a peak water level of 1.69 mOD and a set water exchange volume of (initially) between 10,000 & 12,500 m3.

The gate on the estuary (Clyst) side was controlled by floats that raised the gate on flooding tide but also ensured that it shut when the external tide reached aa certain level. Inside the site there was a drop-board sluice gate installed in creek in site to retain water depth of 0.5m in saline lagoon. As part of this scheme there was some reprofiling incorporating existing ditch network.
