In late 2012, two small breaches formed in the embankment and were subsequently not repaired. Shortly thereafter, the metal flap gates on the outlet sluice were also stolen and not replaced.
Reeds are regulalry cut using a soft track tractor, and the site is also grazed with cattle to control vegetation.
