Project Description Summary

Thorness Bay stretches for 3 km and incorporates an 86 ha SSSI with poorly sorted mixed sediment on the northwest coast of Isle of Wight. Thorness Bay is a site selected for seagrass (Zostera marina) active restoration beginning in March 2024 using three different planting methods; DIS, transplants and fragments. Across Thorness and Priory Bay, the seagrass restoration will cover 3 ha. This restoration activity is being delivered by Project Seagrass.
